The No. 3-seed Orono Spartans defeated the Luverne Cardinals 6-0 in the Class 1A state tournament quarterfinal at Xcel Energy Center.

The Spartans outshot the Cardinals 39-13.

Orono's Mae Grandy scored on the top right corner after Anika Fortin set her up from behind the net on the power play. 

The Spartans scores moments later when Macy Rasmussen picked up loose puck and went by two Luverne defenders and scored on the top corner of the near post. 

Lopez also scored in the top corner of the near post over Luverne goaltender Mallory Von Tersch for the 3-0 Spartan lead.

The Spartans continued to roll in the second period with goals from Grandy and Lopez. 

Maddy Kimbrel added a goal in the third period to give the Spartans the 6-0 win. 

Orono will play No. 2-seed Proctor/Hermantown in the semifinals on February 24 at 11 a.m. at the Xcel Energy Center.

Luverne will play Mankato East on February 23 at 10 a.m. at the TRIA Rink.
