Oregon 6A football awards: Sheldon's Will Haverland earns regular season top defensive lineman

A look at the top Oregon 6A football performances during the regular season

The Oregon high school football postseason has arrived, which means it's time to give out my regular season awards.

Defensive lineman of the year: Will Haverland, Sheldon Irish

Not many prospects have raised their stock more this fall than Sheldon’s Will Haverland.

Simply put, the 6-foot-5, 220-pound edge-rusher - with an 81-inch wingspan - has been a menace.

Haverland has added recent offers from Eastern Washington, Sacramento State and Weber State, and has generated significant buzz on the recruiting trail.

He doesn't get as much attention as he deserves - statewide - because he's in Eugene.

But make no mistake, Haverland is a special defensive playmaker.

Check out the other awards:

- Overall MVP

- Offensive player of the year

- Defensive player of the year

- Newcomer of the year

- Best offense

- Best defense

- Offensive lineman of the year

- Breakout underclassman

- Freshman of the year
