In an effort to shine a brighter spotlight on Washington high school basketball players, we are introducing our first-ever SBLive Boys Basketball Recruiting Rankings.

Our rankings are compiled by SBLive Basketball Analyst Dan Dickau based on observations and conversations with an extensive network of coaching and media sources across the country. The players have been evaluated through a college recruiting lens and analyzed in four categories: athleticism, ball skills, basketball IQ and upside.

Over the next few weeks we will roll out our Top 25 players in Washington. Here’s a closer look at No. 19 on the list, Tahoma junior Cooper Church:

DICKAU’S ANALYSIS

ATHLETICISM: Church checks a lot of the boxes here with his size, strength, length and good hands. I would like to see him use his athleticism more and bring out his competitiveness.

BALL SKILLS: Church is good at a lot of things, but not great at anything at this point in his development. He can shoot the 3, but needs to develop consistency in it. If he develops a consistent outside shot, he could be a nice pick-and-pop big in the right program. And if he dedicates himself to being a master of footwork with his good hands and ability to seal, he could become great on the low block.

BASKETBALL IQ: Church has a solid understanding of the game for a big. To take the next step he must realize how he impacts winning and focus on those things.

UPSIDE: Church's upside might be the toughest call to date on our recruiting rankings. He already holds Division I offers from UC San Diego and Eastern Washington based on his potential of size and skill. The biggest question right now is how hard is he willing to work to make it happen? The sky is the limit.
