SAN ANTONIO — Kara Nixon scored a team-high 16 points - including the game-winner - to lead Martin's Mill over Nocona 44-42 on Saturday afternoon in the Texas (UIL) 2A state girls basketball championship at the Alamodome.

Nixon connected on three 3-pointers in the game while teammate Alli Vaugh finished with 12 points for the Mustangs (36-5). McKenna Wise added 11 points in the victory which included hitting on three 3-pointers.

Martin's Mills outscored Nocona 16-10 in the final period.

Megyn Meekins led Nocona (35-4) with 16 points while Skyler Smith had 12 points and a game-high 10 rebounds.
