Congratulations to Interlake boys basketball point guard Dunkan Nguyen for being voted SBLive’s WaFd Bank Washington High School Athlete of the Week for Jan. 3-9!

The senior had 23 points, 5 assists, 4 rebounds, and 5 steals in a 62-68 loss against Hazen. Nguyen also recorded 26 points 8 assists, 6 rebounds, and 4 steals in a 70-59 win over Sammamish.

Nguyen received 26.36% of the vote, beating out Klahowya's Ella Koebelin who finished second with 20.48%. Squalicum's Mari Binning finished third with 16.23% and Chiawana's Malia Ruud finished fourth with 9.58%. There were over 39,000 votes tallied this week!

Levi Pepper, Selah boys basketball: Finished with 35 points, 14 boards, seven steals, four assists and three blocks in a 62-59 win over Ellensburg.

Tre Blassingame, Auburn Boys Basketball: Led the Trojans with 25 points in 85-50 win over Kentridge.

Halle Wright, Prosser Girls Basketball: Scored a game-high 27 points and reached her 1,000th career point in 74-43 win over Selah.

Malia Samuels, Garfield Girls Basketball: Scored 23 points against her old team, Eastside Catholic, in No.1 Garfield’s 88-50 Metro League victory.

Denis Kadiric, Ingraham Boys Basketball: Broke Ingraham’s single game scoring record with 43 points in 75-52 win over Lincoln.

Mari Binning, Squalicum Girls Basketball: Had 29 points and 7 rebounds in 51-46 win over Mount Vernon.

Luke Brewer, Tumwater Boys Basketball: Had 25 points in 66-44 win over rival Black Hills.

Jazmyn Shipp, Bonney Lake Girls Basketball: Led the Lady Panthers with 25 points in 74-47 win over Spanaway Lake.

Quin Patterson, Mount Si Boys Basketball: Recorded 26 points in 71-44 win over Woodinville.

Aubrey Amendala, Tumwater Girls Basketball: Had a career-high 30 points on 11-for-12 shooting, with eight steals and seven assists in a 2A EvCo rivalry victory over BlackHills

Ryan Lafferty, Mt. Spokane Boys Basketball: Scored the go-ahead three-pointer with 20 seconds left to give the Wildcats a 55-52 win over Gonzaga Prep.

Katie Fiso, Garfield Girls Basketball: The sophomore shared game-high scoring honors with teammates Malia Samuels – 23 points – with 18 coming in the first half. She also had eight steals in the Bulldogs’ Metro League showdown victory over Eastside Catholic.

Jordan Hansen, King’s Boys Basketball: Recorded 33 points, 9 rebounds, and was 6 of 10 from 3-point range in 89-60 win over Lake Stevens. Hiatt and Hansen’s 30-plus point games mark the first time in King’s history there were two 30-point scorers in a game.

Nikole Thomas, Kamiakin Girls Basketball: Led the Braves with a career-high 28 points, 5 rebounds, 3 assists, 5 steals, and 1 Block in 59-44 win over Moses Lakes.

Hope Hassmann, Tahoma Girls Basketball: The Cal Poly commit scored a game-high 26 points – half coming in the the second quarter – with 11 rebounds and nine assists in a non-league victory over Arlington.

Owen Moriarty, O’Dea Boys Basketball: Led the Fighting Irish with 18 points in 59-42 win over Ballard.

Cameron Hiatt, King’s Boys Basketball: Had 30 points and 5 assists in 89-60 win over Lake Stevens. Hiatt and Hansen’s 30-plus point games mark the first time in King’s history there were two 30-point scorers in a game.

Alyson Deaver, Sumner Girls Basketball: Scored 33 points in 81-54 win over over Bellarmine Prep. 

A’treonia Garner, Spanaway Lake Girls Basketball: The high-scoring guard exploded for 34 points and nine rebounds in a loss to Bonney Lake. She had 23 points earlier in the week in a 3A PCL win over Mount Tahoma.

Addison Harris, Camas Girls Basketball: The sophomore forward posted a double-double – 18 points, 12 rebounds – in a key 4A GSHL victory over Skyview.

Ella Koebelin, Klahowya Girls Basketball: The senior point guard erupted for a season-high 27 points on 11-of-20 shooting, with eight rebounds and four steals in a win over Life Christian Academy.

Giselle Dogan, Jackson Girls Basketball: The sophomore scored a season-high 31 points, 23 coming in the second half, in her team’s loss to Mountlake Terrace.

Olivia Moore, Mead Girls Basketball: The senior point guard poured in a game-high 25 points, and the Panthers remained undefeated with a win over Ferris.

Malia Ruud, Chiawana Girls Basketball: The ninth grader registered a game-high 24 points and 16 rebounds in a loss to Lake City, Idaho, and 18 points in wins over Walla Walla and Kamiakin.
