Angels Acquire Former All-Star Infielder From Mets

Halos add infield reinforcement

The Los Angeles Angels have lost some key pieces to their infield, and they didn't waste any time in getting some reinforcement.

The Halos announced they have acquired former All-Star infielder Eduardo Escobar and cash from the New York Mets.

MLB insider Jon Heyman also reported that the Halos will send two prospects on their end and will pay all but the minimum of his deal.

The Angels needed some backup on that front, and Escobar will fill that role. This season, he is slashing .236/.286/.409 with a .695 OPS, along with four home runs, 16 RBIs, and 26 hits in 40 games and 110 ABs.

Escobar, 34, is a 13-year veteran who has spent most of his career with the Minnesota Twins. he earned his first All-Star appearance at the age of 32 with the Arizona Diamondbacks.

Overall, the 34-year-old is a career .254 hitter with 162 home runs and over 1,000 hits in his career.

Escobar played a year and a half with the Mets and signed a two-year deal worth $20 million in the 2021-2022 offseason. He will now be moved for some prospects and make his way back to the West.

We're happy to have the former All-Star on board. We'll see what kind of a role he plays in Orange County. Welcome aboard, Eduardo.
