Angels Could Sign Blake Snell Under One Condition, Says MLB Insider

If the price goes down for Snell, the Halos may be in play for him.

The Los Angeles Angels have yet to make a huge splash in free agency this offseason. They only have one significant signing: relief pitcher Robert Stephenson.

It's been a very slow offseason for the Halos, but that could all change if the price changes for free agent ace and 2023 National League Cy Young winner Blake Snell

According to MLB insider from Fansided Robert Murray, the Halos could be in play for Snell if his price comes down.

“Unless Blake Snell’s price comes down, I don’t think they’re gonna be in on that.”

Snell is the best pitcher left on the market, and he is seeking a massive deal after capturing his second Cy Young award.

MLB.com's Mark Feinsand reported that Snell is seeking a contract worth $200 million, but teams seem hesitant to give him that deal. He's 31 years old, and there's worry about whether he could replicate his 2023 season for years to come. He had an extremely high walk rate in 2023, and found ways to limit the damage with runners on base.

If he is willing to drop his desired number, he may become more attractive to teams like the Halos. It's no secret that the Angels need a starting pitcher, and Snell would be a great fit, but for the right price.
