It's almost like the baseball gods do not want to see the Los Angeles Angels at their peak powers during one of their most dominant stretches over the past couple of seasons. Three of their most important players have now been sent to the IL due to Zach Neto suffering a strained left oblique, Gio Urshela fracturing his pelvis area and now Anthony Rendon's wrist has not gotten better so he will be heading to the IL as well.

The Halos' medical staff was originally hoping that Rendon would progress well by this time and be able to avoid an IL stint just before an important freeway series against the Los Angeles Dodgers but he is still in clear discomfort. This news was first shared by The Athletic's Sam Blum.

"The Angels announce that Anthony Rendon is going on the IL with a wrist contusion. He was hit by a pitch on Thursday, but there was hope he could avoid the IL since there wasn't a broken bone. Both Rendon and Urshela are on the IL. No corresponding move yet."

This is a huge blow for LA considering that Rendon was only back for a short time from his previous IL stint after a groin injury. He had his bright moments but he wasn't back to his superstar form just yet as in 38 games with the Halos this year, he was slashing .248/.366/.316 with an OPS of .682.

Rendon suffered the injury last Thursday in a 5-3 win over the Texas Rangers when he got hit by a pitch in the first inning. He powered through to play the rest of the game due to Urshela getting hurt around the same time but he could not swing much after that and he hasn't played in a game since.

The jokes will definitely be flying on Twitter that Rendon can never stay healthy but we wish him a speedy recovery and hope that he'll be back with the squad soon!
