Angels News: Anthony Rendon's Former Teammate Says He 'Literally Hates Baseball'

The Angels' top earner is being called out by a former teammate.

Los Angeles Angels third baseman Anthony Rendon has been under a lot of heat this week after saying the MLB should shorten their season on the Jack Vita Show.

Halos Today writer Noah Camras covered the initial story on Rendon's comments on shortening the MLB season.

DraftKings content creator Jared Carrabis screenshotted part of the story saying "nobody hates baseball more than one of the game's highest paid players who gets paid not to play," on his personal X account. Papelbon then chimed in to give his two cents, confirming what Carrabis said on his X that Rendon "literally hates baseball."

"I can definitely confirm Carrabis here… Played with Rendon and literally hates baseball. Yeah it’s long isn’t that what you signed up for??? Just tell the team you want to play half the season and give back half your salary!!!!!"

Papelbon and Rendon were teammates in Washington from 2015 to 2016.

Rendon is the team's highest-paid player in terms of average annual value, and the sixth-highest-paid player in the league entering the 2024 season. He's ahead of guys like Corey Seager, Gerrit Cole, Nolan Arenado, and his teammate, Mike Trout.

However, he has not played over 60 games in a season and has played a total of 200 games in four seasons since joining the Halos.

Rendon's trade value is in the negatives, so it seems the Angels are stuck with him by all accounts.

Obviously, Papelbon's words are not the end all be all, and Rendon should have an opportunity to clear the air. But for now, the Angels' third baseman isn't exactly making himself look better this offseason.
