The Angels made another surprising splash on the trade market bringing home first baseman C.J. Cron along with adding outfielder Randal Grichuk in a 4 player swap with the Colorado Rockies.

Pitchers Jake Madden and Mason Albright head to the Rockies in the deal.

A lot has changed since Cron last suited up for the Halos. He turned himself into a bona fide big league slugger and picked up his first All-Star selection along the way. Since being traded to the Rays for Luis Rengifo in February 2018, Cron has hit 127 home runs and should bring some much needed thump to the middle of the lineup in Anaheim.

Grichuk is in the middle of a fine season with the Rockies, hitting .312 with an exceptional .869 OPS in 63 games. He'll give manager Phil Nevin another quality option in the outfield while Mike Trout remains sidelined.

For Grichuk, it's also a homecoming for the former first round draft pick back in 2009. He was traded to the Cardinals for David Freese and Fernando Salas before making his MLB debut with St. Louis in 2014.

RHP Jake Madden was drafted by the Halos just last year and has struggled some to keep runs off the board, posting a 5.46 ERA in 14 starts down at Low-A Inland Empire.

LHP Mason Albright was drafted one year before Madden and has taken some strides this year with a 3.62 ERA in 15 games in the IE.

The Angels continue to add to the roster and show that they mean it when they're saying they're going all in this season. Cron and Grichuk should join the club on Monday in Atlanta.
