Angels News: Halos Prioritized Respect During Massive Saturday Win Over Rockies

A great win with honor.

Not many teams are usually able to head into Coors field and come away with huge wins because of how unpredictable the environment can be. Colorado's elevation needs no explanation at this point and even though teams like the San Diego Padres have been able to improve their own comfortability thanks to playing there and Mexico City this year, the Colorado Rockies usually always have the advantage to an even bigger degree when they have home series.

However, the Angels completely flipped the script when they walked onto their field on Saturday and generated an insane 25 runs on 28 total hits and shattered records all-around. To make matters even crazier, Shohei Ohtani went 1-7 in his plate appearances during one of his hottest streaks of his career and the Halos still had this electric night.

LA started things off smooth in the third inning as Mike Trout, Brandon Drury and Matt Thaiss all hit back to back home runs and got off to a 5-0 lead.

However, it seems as though the rest of the Halos saw these three go deep and something clicked within them.

That 5-0 lead became a 15-0 lead within the blink of an eye as seemingly everybody that stepped up to the plate was getting base hits and RBI's were being stacked upon one another.

Mickey Moniak, who had a perfect game and went 5-5, ended off the inning with a two-run homer that brought in Eduardo Escobar. Speaking of Escobar, it was his first game with the clubhouse since the traded for him and he was able to get two hits with an RBI.

Respecting The Game Of Baseball

Obviously, this is just one game but it may be exactly what the Halos need right now. They just lost two straight games to their city-rival Dodgers and also have a number of their key guys out with injury right now.

Few were happier to see the Angels thriving and having a blast the entire night than Phil Nevin. Through all of their early-season struggles and adversity, he has been the one that has never lost faith. It's easy to forget that it is barely his first year managing the squad.

However, even though Nevin was thrilled seeing how all of this played out, he made it clear that he wanted LA to respect the Rockies and the game of baseball during their big win.

"I'm glad we came out and swung the bats," said Nevin. "You get to a spot where you don't want to disrespect the game. Those guys over there are people that I love and care about. You just don't want it to get out hand."

Nevin is nothing but a man of class... let's enjoy this win Angels fans!
