The Los Angeles Angels were able to at least walk away from their weekend series against the Houston Astros with a win. Right before their Sunday outing, they had previously dropped three straight and their offense was in shambles.

Mike Trout and other LA batters had made it clear that they needed just a couple good hits in certain situations in order to ensure that they could give themselves a fighting chance to win more games. The Halos are currently sitting near the bottom league when it comes to bringing in their guys on base and that was on full display in this Astros series.

On Saturday, Shohei Ohtani had himself quite the night and was able to come close to a cycle so LA carved out six runs but after in all other three, they could not score any more than two. Considering all of the new faces on the roster this season, this shouldn't be the case especially against a big division rival.

The clubhouse as a whole is not very happy about the current state of the offense and multiple players sounded off on what they think could be the issue at hand. Taylor Ward does not want much to change with their game plan.

“I think the worst thing you can do is have a different approach or thought process,” Ward said. “When you realize there’s runners in scoring position, I think that puts added pressure on you and that thought isn’t good.”

Brandon Drury also thinks that all will be solid as the rest of the months go on.

“I think everybody goes through times when you’re driving the runner in, whether it’s hitting the ball well or getting lucky, and then you have times when you just can’t get anything to fall with runners in scoring position,” Drury said. “It’s a long season. It’ll all even out.”

We'll have to see how these claims from our guys age as the rest of the season moves on.
