The Los Angeles Angels look to start off their series against the Oakland Athletics with a bang on Monday. They are coming off of a big win over the Kansas City Royals and look to carry that momentum forward.

Unfortunately, they will be without Logan O'Hoppe after his torn labrum but will have to get used to his absence as he will be gone for about four to six months. It's a very important time in their season as they sit at 11-11 and are trying to keep playoff hopes alive.

However, it appears that the Oakland Athletics have made a sneaky chess move just before they hit the field against the Halos and Luis Medina has been called up as a starter from the minor leagues.

Medina has been suiting up for the Las Vegas Aviators this season and hasn't seen a ton of action just yet but has impressed when he has played. He's taken the mound in three games for nine innings and has posted a 3.86 ERA.

He's also played in 10 games with the Toros del Este and has only given up eight hits with eight runs. 32 batters have also been struck out at his hands.

It is clear that with the Athletics having won only four games this season, they are willing to try anything at this point. The Angels should not have to worry about taking carte of business against them.
