Angels News: Logan O’Hoppe Dealing With No Pain Following Serious Shoulder Injury

The young backstop is fully recovered from his injury!

The future behind the plate is Logan O'Hoppe for the Halos and he is finally back to 100%.

After starting the year hitting 4 home runs in 16 games O'Hoppe suffered a torn labrum that would place him on the 60-day injured list and require shoulder surgery.

His road to recovery is over and now O'Hoppe is focusing on improving as a player, fully healthy.

“My shoulder feels brand new,” O’Hoppe said. “No pain or discomfort or any tweaks or anything like that at all. Even that tag (on the triple play) that first night felt totally fine. Yeah, there’s no barrier (on) anything I’m trying to go with. I’m just going to start playing better.”

O'Hoppe started his road to recovery by entering a rehab assignment in Class-A baseball for the Inland Empire 66ers where he quickly became a fan favorite staying late after games to sign autographs and take photos for every fan that wanted one.

The rehab assignment has O'Hoppe hitting and catching to make sure he felt comfortable with both roles since he would be needed in that position for the Angels.

Being called up after his rehab assignment saw O'Hoppe expected to step into a leadership role, especially for the young prospects the Halos have called up recently.

Since returning, O'Hoppe's numbers at the plate have taken a dip only hitting a .111 average in August with a .402 OPS. To start September however, the franchise backstop has been hitting a .261 average with an .885 OPS.

O'Hoppe and the Angels are no longer looking to make the playoffs this year but instead, take what is left of the season to develop the future of the franchise in young players like Nolan Schanuel and Kyren Paris.
