Even though the Los Angeles Angels were not able to capture a third straight win against their division-rival Texas Rangers, they are competing every night and still have the better odds right now to win the series. Time and time again this season, we've seen LA thrive leading up to a big week like this one and then seemingly disappear. However, that is not the case right now.

LA is starting to rake and they are bringing in runners at a higher rate than ever in 2023. Shohei Ohtani is in the midst of one of his best stretches ever as he is batting .500 with 14 hits and four home runs over his last seven games. When he is performing like this, the Angels will always be in the mix but we are also seeing the rest of their lineup step up as well.

Mickey Moniak has been a pleasant surprise this season and after being given up on by the Philadelphia Phillies, he has found a new home in Anaheim and provided an energy burst for the Halos when they needed it most. In 20 games with the clubhouse this year, he is slashing .294/.324/.632 and has five homers to his name already.

His IQ in the outfield has also been excellent.

But Moniak believes in the franchise as much as they believed in him when they welcomed him aboard and called him up after some great outings in the minor league.

The 25-year-old former number one pick is confident the Angels can hang with the top teams in the mLB.

“We’re playing team baseball,” said Moniak. “The starters have gone out and given us quality starts day in and day out. The bullpen has come in and locked it down and the offense is coming up with timely hits. And, as the last two days have shown, if we get down, we know that we are never out of it. We know we have an offense that can hang with the best of them.”

Hopefully LA can snag another win from the Rangers today!
