This would be...not good.

Baseball season if officially upon us, as Spring Training is finally here. Teams are gearing up for real baseball, which begins on Feb. 25.

The beginning of Spring Training means rosters are almost fully finalized, which also means it's time for projections. We already got some impressive stat projections from guys like Shohei Ohtani, but now it's time for full team projections.

Baseball Prospectus' PECOTA projections were released this week, and while they expect an improvement for the Halos, they also have them missing the postseason for the ninth straight season.

The projections had the Angels going 85-77 and scoring more runs than any American League team except for the Houston Astros. However, they would still just barely miss the postseason.

While this would be a huge improvement for the Angels, they can't exactly afford to miss the postseason this year with Shohei Ohtani's impending free agency. Another year without postseason baseball would all but end the Ohtani era in Anaheim, and things are reportedly already looking bleak.

So the Halos need to do everything they can to make the postseason this year — having a winning record isn't enough.

Obviously these projections are, of course, just projections, and it is nice to see that they think the Halos will be a much better team in 2023. So hopefully, a few more things go the Halos' way, and they find themselves in the postseason for the first time since 2014.
