Angels Notes: Shohei Ohtani Bombarded By Paparazzi, Halo Manager Search Begins
While eight teams are still battling it out for a spot in the record books as the 2023 World Series champions, the offseason has begun for the 22 remaining teams.
The Angels will have a busy winter, as they must hire a new manager in addition to the craziness of free agency. One of their upcoming free agents, pitcher/designated hitter Shohei Ohtani, has already been a top target for multiple teams as the Angels try to keep their franchise star.
Unfortunately for Shohei, it seems that his offseason has not exactly been the most relaxing. According to a report from a Japanese entertainment news outlet, Ohtani has been mostly staying home in an effort to avoid paparazzi.
Jisin.jp reported (this has been translated by Google): "Currently, Ohtani is said to be staying at home most of the time, except when he goes to a rehabilitation facility. The reason is because of the local paparazzi. There used to be four or five paparazzi, but the number has increased considerably recently. It is said that there are times when up to 60 paparazzi gather in front of his home."
It's terribly unfortunate if the free agent to be is being bothered to the degree the publication makes it out to be. No American news outlets have updates on the report.
