Angels Provide Positive Update on Injured Chase Silseth

The Angels and Chase Silseth appear to have avoided serious injury.

Following the scary scene at Citi Field in New York on Saturday night, the Angels and manager Phil Nevin provided a positive update on Chase Silseth.

The rookie pitcher was hit in the back of the head by an errant throw on the infield and was taken to a local hospital to get checked out last night. Thankfully he was released in the evening and was at the ballpark for Sunday's finale with the Mets only dealing with a headache.

“He got hit pretty hard,” Nevin said. “I think we avoided something serious but with the head injuries you always want to be cautious with them. We’ll keep evaluating him through the day and see where we’re at.”

Silseth has become one of the Angels' better starters since the All-Star break, posting a 3.34 ERA over his last 29.2 innings pitched.

All told, the Halos and Silseth may have caught a break with what could have been a bad situation. The right-hander was not placed on the injured list and could potentially make a start this coming weekend or by the time the team returns home next week to welcome the Orioles.
