The Los Angeles Angels are reportedly one of the two finalists for free agent outfielder Adam Duvall. Jon Heyman of the New York Post reported the Angels are competing with the incumbent Boston Red Sox for the former All-Star slugger.

Duvall, 35, played in 92 games with Boston last year, slashing .247/.303/.531 with 21 home runs and 58 RBIs. He fractured his wrist in early April, but returned in June and was able to play the rest of the season.

The 10-year veteran began his career with San Francisco Giants in 2014, but found his footing in 2016 with the Cincinnati Reds. That year, he hit 33 home runs, drove in 103 RBIs and was named to his first and only All-Star team.

In 2021, Duvall had arguably his best all around year in the majors.

Between the Miami Marlins and Atlanta Braves, Duvall crushed career-highs in home runs (38) and RBIs (113). He also won a Gold Glove award for his play all over the outfield.

Duvall has proven he can still produce in an MLB lineup, and continued to move around the outfield last season. He was mainly a center fielder — appearing in 61 games — but also made 26 appearances in right field and seven in left field.

The Angels currently have Mike Trout in center, but have reportedly discussed moving him away from that spot to potentially keep him fresher.

Duvall would be able to take over in center, or at least spell Trout a couple days a week.

Duvall was a member of the 2021 Braves' World Series champion team. He hit two home runs during that series against the Houston Astros.
