Angels Rumors: Halos Linked to Top Closer on the Market

Josh Hader linked to the Angels

Heading into the offseason, the Angels front office knows what it needs to do to return to the playoffs for the first time since 2015.

One of the biggest holes that they will need to fill is the team's bullpen. The Angels dropped many games late last year due to not having the right pieces coming out of the 'pen.

With that being said, the Halos could be suitors for one of the biggest names on the relief pitching market this year.

According to MLB.com writer Mark Feinsand, the Angels could be in on getting Josh Hader from free agency.

"There are other proven closers on the market this winter including David Robertson and Craig Kimbrel, but those two former All-Stars are on the wrong side of 35 and won’t be viewed as long-term options for a club seeking to stabilize the ninth inning," said Feinsand. "Hader, on the other hand, turns 30 in April and is arguably the best reliever in the game right now."

Hader ended last season with the Padres as one of the best closers in all of baseball.

"The lefty posted a 1.28 ERA in 61 appearances in 2023, ranking in the 97th percentile or better in strikeout percentage, xBA, xERA and hard-hit percentage."

Ever since his days with the Brewers, Hader has been considered one of the best relief pitchers in the game.

If the Angels could get the lefty, the team's bullpen would automatically be in better shape than it was when the 2023 season ended.
