Angels Rumors: Mike Trout and Halos Haven’t Spoke at All About Potential Trade

Another chapter in this recent saga.

Though many have speculated the departure of Mike Trout from the Angels' franchise amidst a possible teamwide turnover in 2024, the superstar outfielder for the Halos hasn't given any indication of the possibility.

A cornerstone in Anaheim for over a decade at this point in time, Trout hasn't said he's wanted out, though many analysts said that he might get his wish should he say so in the coming months.

The Angels and Mike Trout haven’t exchanged a word about whether he’d like to be traded, and as of mid-week not one team had called, even after USA Today reported they’d consider dealing him if he wanted to go.

It makes sense why the Angels wouldn't want to trade their star of the past 10 years, but the reports that teams haven't had interest in his services also make sense due to a number of factors.

Health has been a major issue for Trout as his last full season in the majors came in 2019 when he was still under the age of 30.

Now on the other side of the aging curve and surely on the back half of his career, the monster extension Trout signed before said 2019 season worth $426.5 million over 12 years also looms large.

With baseball littered with several notorious deals that age poorly due to injury or decline in production in the second half of many nine figure deals, teams who even could afford Trout's hefty price tag will likely be cautious.

Unwilling to pay a 32-year-old outfielder who could transition into a designated hitter role in short order, it makes sense why the Angels will likely keep their franchise star for the remainder of his career.

Even with competitive questions due to the futility of Anaheim's team building over the past decade, Trout looks like he's here to stay even if other teammates won't.
