Blake Snell Rumors: Angels Free Agent Target Posts Cryptic Social Media Story
The Los Angeles Angels have been connected with free agent Blake Snell all offseason, but so far, nothing has come to fruition. However, things seem to be heating up a little on the Snell front of late, likely due to the regular season starting in a few weeks.
Snell added some fuel to the fire on Sunday, posting a cryptic social media story. It was just an eye emoji, but with all the speculation around him possibly being close to a decision, it sparked much debate.
There have been rumors coming out that Snell prefers to land with the Halos, so it could make sense that a deal may be in the works. The Angels want to improve the starting rotation with the season getting closer, and Snell could easily help them with that.
The biggest obstacle has been convincing owner Arte Moreno to take a chance on another big free-agent contract. He has been burned in the past, so the hesitancy is there for him.
However, Snell is a two-time Cy Young Award winner, who is reportedly open to signing a short-term contract with opt-outs. If they could get him on this type of deal, it should be a no-brainer for Moreno to okay the signing.
Snell would instantly bolster the Angels' rotation, giving them a true ace to work around. If the Halos are truly committed to being competitive going forward, signing a pitcher like Snell would be one of the better moves they can make.
