Former Angels Pitcher Joins AL Powerhouse on MiLB Deal

The one-year Angel has found a new home in the AL East.

Former Los Angeles Angels starting pitcher Julio Teherán has found a new home, and it's with the American League East powerhouse Baltimore Orioles.

Jon Heyman of the New York Post reported Teherán and the Orioles have agreed to a minor league deal for the 2024 season.

Teherán's deal is included with an MLB camp invite, and his deal would be worth $2 million if he makes the major league team.

In his lone season with the Angels, which came in the 2020 shortened season, Teherán was far from sharp.

The 33-year-old posted an abysmal 10.05 ERA in nine starts and 10 appearances. He recorded an 0-4 record with 20 strikeouts, an 8.62 FIP, and a 1.75 WHIP in 31.1 innings. His time as a Halo was short, and after the season, he became a free agent and joined the Detroit Tigers on a minor league deal.

Since then, he's bounced around from team to team, as has had trouble staying with a team and in the majors.

Over the course of his 12-year career, Teheran has played for the Atlanta Braves, Angels, Tigers and Milwaukee Brewers.

With the Braves, he enjoyed tons of success, making two All-Star teams in 2014 and 2016. He has a career 3.83 ERA in 254 appearances (247 starts).
