Former Angels left-handed pitcher Jhonathan Díaz has signed a minor league deal with the Seattle Mariners, per Matt Eddy of Baseball America.

Díaz, 27, has spent all three seasons of his major league career with the Angels.

Díaz made his debut in Sept. 2021 and appeared in three games with the Halos that month, sporting a 4.15 ERA in 13 innings of work.

He improved in 2022, sporting a 2.93 ERA in four games (three starts) across 15.1 innings of work. Díaz also appeared in 10 games with Triple-A Salt Lake and went 3-1 with a 4.98 ERA in the hitter-friendly Pacific Coast League.

Late in the 2022 season, Díaz dealt with an injury and was ultimately designated for assignment in November, only to return to the Angels on a minor league contract.

He struggled in 2023, allowing eight earned runs in 7.0 innings, good for a 10.29 ERA.

Diaz's professional baseball career began in 2014 in the Boston Red Sox organization.

He never got above High-A with the Red Sox, and finally got his opportunity to move up with the Halos in 2021.

Now, Díaz will head to Seattle, where he'll hope to make an impact on the big-league roster at some point next season.

Díaz has made two career appearances at Seattle's T-Mobile Park, sporting a 3.68 ERA across 7.1 innings pitched.
