Former Angels Reliever Designated for Assignment by AL Squad

He played eight games for the Halos last season.

Kyle Barraclough, who spent part of the 2022 season with the Los Angeles Angels, has been released by the Boston Red Sox in a series of roster moves earlier this week.

Barraclough had his best seasons with the Miami Marlins, posting a 3.21 ERA with a 29.8 percent strikeout rate from 2015-18.

Since, Barraclough has been with five teams, including an eight-game stint with the Angels. Barraclough held a 3.00 ERA and a 1.22 WHIP.

With Boston, his strikeout rate has dipped to 23.1 percent. Across just three games with the Red Sox, Barraclough's ERA was 12.91 with a 2.61 WHIP across 7.2 innings pitched. He only struck out four of the 46 batters faced with Boston.

The 33-year-old Barraclough will likely have a strong chance of signing a minor league deal somewhere. He has performed well at the Triple-A level with a career 3.44 ERA in 170 innings.

Boston activated right-hander Zack Kelly from the 60-day injured list and optioned righty Nick Robertson to Triple-A in corresponding moves.
