The Los Angeles Angels opened the season with two key players on the injured list, infielder Jared Walsh and catcher Max Stassi. Walsh has been dealing with headaches and insomnia, while Staassi is dealing with a hip injury.

However, we learned yesterday that Stassi is dealing with something more severe than a hip injury. Angels manager Phil Nevin said to keep Max is going through a severe family emergency but wouldn't go into detail on what exactly is going on with him.

Injuries suck, but it sounds like something more serious is going on with Stassi, and that's never a good sign. Nevin didn't go into specifics, but it's human nature to think about what is happening to him.

The 32-year-old has spent three and a half seasons with the Halos slashing .209/.294/.364 with a .658 OPS while hitting 29 home runs and 87 RBIs. His production increased heavily with the Halos compared to his time with the Houston Astros, where he wasn't used as much.

We wish Max the best, and whatever he and his family are going through will blow over soon.
