The Los Angeles Angels 2023 season has been somewhat of a youth movement. LA gave catcher Logan O'Hoppe his first real shot at the big leagues, and was shining before he suffered a left shoulder injury, and others have debuted this season as well. Another one of the Halos' top prospects got his first shot in the bigs in righty flame thrower Ben Joyce

Joyce came in after starting pitcher Griffin Canning and was phenomenal in his first appearance. He had heads turning in his first strikeout which was clocked as a 102 MPH sinker, and if blink, you could miss it.

This may be new to the MLB world, but it's common for the 22-year-old rookie. Last year, the righty pitcher threw a pitch that registered at 105.5 MPH when he was a college athlete at the University of Tennessee.

Joyce had a great debut as he only managed to throw 12 pitches, 10 of them for strikes in one inning, allowed one hit, zero runs, and two strikeouts. he looked fanatsict in his debut.

Joyce was selected in the 2022 MLB Drfat with the 89th pick of the third round. He was estimated to make his debut in 2024, according to MLB.com, but without a full year in the minors, he finds himself in the majors.

He's obviously known for his power stuff on the mound, but his slider whics is averaged at around 83 MPH also makes hitters miss. the 22-year-old didn't look scared and was ready for the bigs. We'll see what the Halos plan to do with him going forward.
