Houston Astros third baseman Alex Bregman launched his seventh career grand slam on Thursday night in St. Louis en route to a 14-0 blowout victory over the Cardinals.

With his latest blast, Bregman joins José Altuve and Carlos Lee on the franchise’s all-time career grand slams leaderboard after belting two slams in the current road trip and the third this season.

Although Bregman started the season slow, as usual, he's picked up the pace as the Astros race towards the All-Star break, with the third baseman currently slashing .249/.348/.409 with 12 home runs, 53 RBI and three stolen bases.

He went 3-for-5 on Thursday night and hopes to remain hot as Houston aims to gain some ground on the interstate rival Texas Rangers.

Houston defeated Texas 5-3 on Friday night behind a solid pitching performance by Ronel Blanco, a shutout by the bullpen and clutch hitting by the Astros as a whole.

The Astros play the second of a three-game series in Arlington on Saturday, with Houston (45-37) currently sitting 4.0 games behind Texas (49-33).

Right-handed rookie Hunter Brown (6-4, 3.62 ERA) takes the hill for Houston, with Texas countering with righty Nathan Eovaldi (9-3, 2.82 ERA).

First pitch for Saturday's showdown between the Astros and Rangers is slated for 3:05 p.m. CT at Globe Life Field.

Stay tuned to Inside the Astros as Bregman and company aim to close the gab in the American League West with the midseason break quickly looming.
