Houston Astros catcher Martin Maldonado is scheduled to wear a microphone during Sunday’s home game against the Texas Rangers on ESPN, according to the Houston Chronicle.

Maldonado will talk with the ESPN broadcast crew of play-by-play announcer Karl Ravech and analysts David Cone and Eduardo Pérez, though it’s unclear which innings.

According to an ESPN spokesperson, Maldonado will be the first catcher to wear a microphone for a live interview during a regular season game.

Alex Bregman was interviewed during the March 30 season-opening loss to the Chicago White Sox.

Sunday’s game is one of two the Astros will play on ESPN during April. ESPN will also air the April 30 series finale against the Philadelphia Phillies, last year’s opponent in the World Series.

Maldonado has struggled offensively in the early part this season, hitting just .179 with no home runs and two RBI. Maldonado is 5-for-28 in limited playing time.

Then again, Maldonado is known for his defense and doesn’t need huge offensive numbers for the Astros to be successful.
