MLB.com just released the updated July version of their Top 100 Prospects list, and the Houston Astros have a prospect who made leaps in the rankings.

Pitcher Hunter Brown comes in at number 86 after recent promotions and demotions have taken place around the league after previously being ranked at 100.

Brown is the lone representative for the Astros on the list. The lack of marquee prospects in the top 100 can be attributed to the fact that Houston has promoted many of their top prospects who are currently contributing at the Major League level.

Players such as Jeremy Peña, Joe Perez, and Ronel Blanco have all made their debuts this season, with the former effectively filling the shoes of preceding shortstop Carlos Correa.

Brown very well could join that list, as he currently possesses a 2.42 ERA with a 1.10 WHIP and 92 strikeouts in 67.0 innings of work at Triple-A Sugar Land.

The issue surrounding Brown is his walk rate, which sits at 11.0-percent is near the top of the leaderboard in all of Triple-A. His promotion during the 2022 MLB season seems unlikely as a starter, but he could provide some use as a reliever down the stretch if Houston needs some help.
