Ted Cruz Curses Astros, Attended Every Postseason Loss at Home

The U.S. Senator from the state of Texas is a huge Houston Astros fans, but his attendance at home playoffs games has coincided with losses.

The Houston Astros may have a bad luck charm this postseason, and it might not be Minute Maid Park.

It might be Texas Sen. Ted Cruz.

Cruz, who grew up in Houston and has represented the state in the U.S. Senate since 2013, is a big Astros fans.

Unfortunately, his attendance at Astros games this postseason has coincided with each of their five home postseason losses.

Thanks to Twitter, there are receipts.

Cruz posted a photo with his daughter at Game 2 of the Divisional Series against the Minnesota Twins, which happened to be the only game the Astros lost that series.

Cruz was also in attendance for Games 1 and 2 in the American League Championship Series with the Texas Rangers at Minute Maid Park. The Astros lost both of those games, too.

After Game 6, which the Astros lost on Sunday and allowed the Rangers to force a Game 7, there was video of Cruz leave the game and shaking the hand of a constituent.

The evidence of Cruz’s attendance at Game 7 of the ALCS comes from Twitter user Ben Ferguson, who snapped a pic with Cruz early in the game.

The Astros lost the game and the series to the Rangers, 4-3

It became such a thing on Twitter that Astros fans actually posted on the site begging Cruz to stay away from the game. His spokesperson confirmed before Game 7 that he would attend.

To be fair to Cruz, there are photos on Twitter from last year’s postseason run, during which the Astros won the World Series, beating the Philadelphia Phillies. He attends Astros games regularly, usually with his daughter, something his spokesperson calls their “father-daughter” tradition.

It just wasn’t Cruz’s, or the Astros’ year.
