The Houston Astros started 7-9 last season and, well, we all know how the postseason ended with a parade.

After 106 regular season victories, they ultimately captured their second World Series title since 2017.

Veteran manager Dusty Baker won his first ring at the age of 73 after a storied playing and managerial career. Baker finally catapulted the team to a championship.

Naturally, there’s cause for concern after another 7-9 start this season.

With Baker managing the team, there’s zero reason to fret.

The roster is loaded in every area and the Astros have the perfect personality in Baker to keep them confident.

The Astros fell 9-1 to the Texas Rangers on Sunday night and finished 0-for-6 with runners in scoring position.

Houston didn’t hit well, didn’t pitch well, didn’t field well.

Baker knows all of this.

“Tonight, we didn’t play very well,” Baker said. “We made some mistakes in the field, made some mistakes on the bases. We had some opportunities. The 0-2 grand slam really hurt. That was the major difference in the game.”

You can bet that Baker will continue to show up to the ballpark with his calm demeanor. When Baker is calm, the players will be calm.

The playoffs don’t start now, next week or next month.

Last season, the Astros went on a tear with 15 wins in 17 games following the slow start. This team is just as capable if not more capable.

When you check the standings on June 1, don’t be surprised if the Astros have a huge lead in the division.

Whatever happens, Baker won’t panic. The Astros are lucky to have him as their manager.
