Houston Astros Activate Altuve, Will Return Propel Team to Top of AL West?

Houston Astros second baseman Jose Altuve is set to rejoin the MLB team Friday. Will his return spark a run in the standings?

Houston Astros All-Star second baseman Jose Altuve will rejoin the club on Friday against the Oakland Athletics

That’s great news for the Astros, who currently sit in second place in the American League West with a record of 24-19, two games behind the first place Texas Rangers (26-17).

Houston hosts the lowly Athletics in a three-game series starting Friday at Minute Maid Park.

And now could be an ideal time for not only the return of Altuve, but a return of the Astros offense to MLB prominence.

Look, there’s no doubt the Astros have underachieved to this point, but it’s still incredibly early in the season and Houston remains in the hunt regardless of the multiple injuries and setbacks.

Altuve’s return couldn’t come at a better moment in the season.

The Astros are currently riding a four-game win streak and pulled of a miraculous come-from-behind win on Wednesday night against the Chicago Cubs.

Will Altuve’s return propel the Astros back to the top of the AL West?

We could have that answer in as little as three days, but only time will tell.

One thing is certain: Astros skipper Dusty Baker and the Houston faithful are eagerly awaiting Altuve’s return.

His presence alone could very well be just what the doctor ordered for the Houston Astros.
