Astros Have Lacked Power Through First Six Games Despite Stacked Roster

An unexpected start to the season leaves Astros fans wondering, where is the power?

The Houston Astros powered their way to 106 victories last season and then plowed through the postseason on their way to a second World Series title since 2017.

Through six games this season, the power has been out for the Astros.

The Astros are 2-4 and have hit four home runs – two by Kyle Tucker and two by Yordan Alvarez.

Meanwhile, Houston has given up eight homers.

This is not the start the Astros were expecting.

“Right now, not much is going good for us,” manager Dusty Baker said matter-of-factly.

This team is too loaded not to start hitting home runs in bunches.

Tucker, Alvarez, Jose Abreu, Alex Bregman, Jeremy Peña and Jose Altuve -- when he returns from the injured list -- will all put up power numbers and drive in runs.

Don’t be surprised if the Astros come up with a crazy number like 15 homers in a three- or four-game series very soon. There’s just too much talent on this roster not to see that.

Sometimes teams start slow offensively. Even ones predicted to win 100 or more games.
