The Houston Astros announced Thursday the clubs will have two prospects heading to the 2022 All-Star Futures Game in Los Angeles. Joining catcher Yainer Diaz, Hunter Brown is also set to represent the Astros.

Houston's No. 1 prospect according to MLB Pipeline, Brown took the mound Wednesday, tossing five innings of one-run ball for the Space Cowboys. The No. 86 prospect in Major League Baseball punched out five batters, yielding four hits and two walks en route to his sixth win of the year.

Throwing his fastball at a lower clip (46 percent) Wednesday, Brown honed in on his slider which made up 32 percent of his arsenal in his 11th start of the 2022 season. The righty also mixed in 19 percent curveballs, using the pitch to generate four of his nine whiffs on the day.

Brown leads the Pacific Coast League in strikeouts (97), ERA (2.38) and opponents batting average (.186) while ranking second in WHIP (1.11). The right-hander is carving his way through Triple-A, awaiting a chance to join the 40-man roster and make a major league impact.

Outfielder Pedro León was the sole representative for Houston at the 2021 All-Star Futures Game in Denver. León struck out in his only plate appearance, entering the game pinch-hitting for designated hitter Yoelqui Céspedes of the Chicago White Sox organization.
