The Blue Jays know what spot they'll be drafting out of next year.

While the World Series still needs to be played and a draft lottery will dictate some early picks, the Jays are locked into the 22nd pick in the first round of next year's MLB Draft. The Jays will be selecting after the Rays and just before the Twins, who knocked them out of the 2023 postseason. The 2024 draft will occur in July of next season.

The Blue Jays have had the 22nd overall pick twice in recent years, selecting pitcher Marcus Stroman in the 2012 selection show and infielder Logan Warmoth in 2017. Next summer will be the third year in a row the Jays will draft in the early-20s, too, after selecting left-handed pitcher Brandon Barriera in 2022 and high school shortstop Arjun Nimmala in 2023.

While the Jays have had some great development stories in recent years (Ricky Tiedemann, Orelvis Martinez) draft picks haven't necessarily been a part of the prospect success. Nimmala and Barriera currently rank as the organization's No. 3 and No. 4 prospects, per Baseball America. Overall, the Blue Jays' minor-league system grades out as one of the thinnest in baseball, ranking 25th on Baseball America's latest organizational update.

Deciding the order of the top picks in next year's draft, MLB's draft lottery will occur on December 5 this year, with the Athletics, Royals, and Rockies all owning the best odds (18.3%) to earn the top selection. Toronto's AL East rivals in the Red Sox and Yankees both have slim chances at the top pick, too, at 1.2% and 0.6%, respectively.
