Atlanta Braves Ace Will Undergo An MRI

The Atlanta Braves will look for more information about their ace pitcher.

The Atlanta Braves ace, Spencer Strider took the mound tonight to face the defending NL champions, the Arizona Diamondbacks for the home opener of the season. Strider is our ace for a reason. He is one of the best pitchers in the MLB, but he did not look like his normal self tonight. 

Strider was pulled from the game after only four innings. He gave up five earned runs on seven hits, four strikeouts, and three walks. After the game was over, we may have found a reason why Strider was not himself against Arizona tonight.

Lindsay Crosby of Braves Today reported after the home opener that "Spencer Strider was complaining about his elbow after the outing, and is scheduled for an MRI in the morning as a precaution, per manager Brian Snitker," on a post on X following the game.

"He came in and he was complaining about his elbow.," Braves manager Brian Snitker said to media after the game. "He is going to get a MRI in the morning and we will find out what is going on."

According to Codify, the Braves ace averaged 96.7 MPH with his fastball in his first start but all of his last 31 fastballs in the Friday night home opener were slower than that 96.7 MPH mark. The final fastball he threw was 94.9 MPH.

The Atlanta Braves won in extra innings to take down the Arizona Diamondbacks. They will face Arizona on Saturday evening with a 7:20 pm ET first pitch.
