The Atlanta Braves pulled off the weekend series sweep on Sunday against the Arizona Diamondbacks.

It went well for Chris Sale and the Atlanta Braves. They locked in their first sweep of the season and won 5-2.

Despite a lot of negative noise because of the looming news around Spencer Strider being placed on the IL, Atlanta found another victory to start the season and improve to 6-2 on the year.

Here are some takeaways from Sunday afternoon's action.

Chris Sale did what Atlanta needed

With Strider's status no longer being a certainty, Sale's impact on this team has become more important than ever. His second start as a member of the Atlanta Braves went well.

He gave up two runs and four hits in his 5.1 innings of action. His six strikeouts on the day helped him eat innings and set up Joe Jiménez to finish out the sixth inning.

Matt Olson must hate the Chophouse

Another home game, another opportunity for Matt Olson to hit the Chophouse by blasting a ball over the wall. His solo shot home run in the second inning put Atlanta on the board.

The solo blast traveled 408 feet right at the Chop House behind the outfield. While he continues to dent the place, I'm sure the folks at Truist Park are fine with it.

It was Olson's third homer of the season and his 8th RBI on the year.

Austin Riley chimed in with a two-run homer to left center in the eighth to give Atlanta a more comfortable 5-2 lead when they went into the final inning of action. It was Riley's second home run on the year.

Marcell Ozuna keeps scoring

Ozuna gets across home plate again, however him tagging from third isn't the most ideal way to use his skill set. He's one of five players in baseball with four or more home runs. He also scored his eighth run of the season

According to Barrett Sallee of the Braves Report, "since May 1, 2023, Marcell Ozuna has hit .299/.364/.614 with a .978 OPS. His 42 home runs are third most in the majors."

Braves fans will take that. They'll also take weekend sweeps.

Atlanta will look for another win as they host the New York Mets on Monday.
