The Braves top the homer list in Bleacher Reports' 2023 Top 10
The Atlanta Braves were the best power hitters in baseball last year, being the first team in MLB history to have a team slugging percentage over .500. Atlanta finished the season with 307 homers and that put them at the top of the leaderboard for the most team homers in the MLB. The Braves were 58 homers better than the Dodgers, who finished second with 249 homers, and tied the all-time record set by the 2019 Minnesota Twins.
Atlanta had 10 players hit double-digit homers last season. Travis D'Arnaud hit 11 homers, Orlando Arcia hit 17, Michael Harris hit 18, Sean Murphy hit 21, Eddie Rosario hit 21, Ozzie Albies hit 33, Austin Riley hit 37, Marcell Ozuna hit 40, Ronald Acuña Jr. hit 41, and Matt Olson hit 54 homers. Olson broke the franchise record for most single-season homers this year.
Here are a few notes from the Braves offense last year and one stat from a player that will be on the Braves in 2024.
The 7th longest homer in MLB was Travis d'Arnaud - 474 feet, on June 16th at home vs Colorado. 109.6mph, 27-degree launch angle
The newest lineup member, Braves trade acquisition Jarred Kelenic, was tied for the fifth-longest homer with a dinger that measured 482 feet on April 12th vs the Chicago Cubs. Sent out at 111.7 mph, it had a 31-degree launch angle.
The HARDEST hit homer in 2023 was Ronald Acuña Jr, on September 2nd against the Los Angeles Dodgers. He sent that ball out at an eye-popping 121.2 mph, going 454 feet to dead center. Only five players have ever hit a ball harder than 120 mph, and only three out of those were homers (Aaron Judge, Giancarlo Stanton, and Acuña).
The Braves offense put up generational numbers during the 2023 season. Hopefully, they can keep that production in 2024.
