Ian Anderson looks to improve for the Atlanta Braves in Triple-A

Ian Anderson can still be an option for the Atlanta Braves.

Ian Anderson is a top pitching option for the Atlanta Braves, but he is struggling with command issues. Therefore, he has been sent down to Triple-A, where he will have a chance to work on his game before returning to the majors.

Anderson made his major league debut in 2020 and impressed immediately, posting a 1.95 ERA in six starts. He built on that success in 2021, starting 18 games for the Braves and compiling a 6-5 record with a 3.56 ERA. However, he has also shown some inconsistencies, particularly in his ability to throw strikes consistently.

“He’s pitched a lot of big games in his young career,” raves manager Brian Snitker told Braves.com. “He’s only 24. They’re going to go to work and break some things down. I’m just hoping he can get himself back going.”

The Braves hope that by sending Anderson down to Triple-A, they can help him work on his command and build his confidence. They believe that he has all the tools necessary to be a successful major league pitcher, but he needs to develop better control over his pitches.

Additionally, he's added a slider this offseason, which shows promise but needs a bit more refinement before it's ready for game action.

The Braves have a rich history of developing young pitchers, and they believe that Anderson has the potential to be one of their best. However, they know that he will need to put in the work and make some adjustments in order to reach his full potential. By sending him down to Triple-A, they have given him the time and space to do just that.
