Which Braves Pitcher Would Win In a Home Run Derby?

Braves players contemplate who would win a pitcher-only Home Run Derby.

While the Atlanta Braves players had some downtime between practice and games at CoolToday Park, the social media team proposed a question to nine players:

Who would win if the Braves pitchers held a pitchers-only Home Run Derby?

The nine players asked were Tyler Matzek, Matt Olson, Ozzie Albies, Jackson Stephens, Dylan Lee, Travis D'Arnaud, Spencer Strider, Max Fried, and Ronald Acuña Jr.. Here are their responses.

Fried - Matzek

Fried - Matt Olson

Fried - Ozzie

Matzek - Jackson Stephens

Matzek - Dylan Lee

Fried - D'Arnaud

Fried - Acuna

Fried - Strider

Fried - Fried

That makes the final tally 7-2 in favor of Max Fried. It makes sense that a lot of players would go with Max Fried. He won a Silver Slugger award in 2021. He even hit a walk-off single against the Miami Marlins on July 4th.

I think everyone is forgetting about one guy, though. We all forget about him due to his injuries, but Huascar Ynoa can hit. Ynoa hit two homers in the 2021 season, with one of them being a grand slam to dead center against the Washington Nationals. Again, all of that hinges on him being able to stay healthy for a full season. He has only pitched in 13 games in the past four years in Atlanta.

It is funny seeing Tyler Matzek getting a couple of votes on the list because if there is any man who could be a wildcard, it's Matzek. I would never bet against him being able to do anything. Here is the full video from the Braves social account.
