Michael Harris II dishes on his Sophomore season
Atlanta Braves outfielder Michael Harris II played his second full season in the MLB in 2023. He finished the season as one of the most productive hitters to ever hit in the No. 9 spot in the lineup, with a .293 batting average, a .334 on-base percentage, and a .494 slugging percentage with 33 doubles, 3 triples, 18 homers, and 57 RBI. Recently, Harris sat down with MLB Network to talk about his Sophomore season.
"Atlanta athletes period are just different breeds. Everybody in this city wants to compete and wants to be the best. Just playing for Atlanta motivates me even more because it's on my chest so I gotta represent it. It's the city I grew up in. I'm trying to do the same thing that it did for me. Spread the culture that it gave me and put some excitement back into the game." - Harris
Harris made those comments during a promotional video for his new shoe deal with New Balance! He then was asked a bevy of questions by the analysts at MLB Network. The first question was, Talk about the culture of Atlanta and the Braves clubhouse.
"Yeah, the culture in Atlanta is a big part of who I am, how I was raised, and how I go about my play and my everyday life. It's a huge part of me and it gives me more drive every day."
"I think it's (the culture of the clubhouse) huge. It's a big part of how we have so much fun and can win at the same time. It just makes us better as a team and keeps us loose and be able to play without a lot of pressure on us."
Harris sounds like he is in mid-season form during the interview and hopefully, he can keep trending in the right direction in 2024.
