Ronald Acuña Jr. makes MLB.com list of the biggest player milestones in 2023

Acuña's 40-70 season is a record that may never be broken.

MLB.com recently wrote an article listing the best MLB player milestones that were reached during the 2023 season and to no surprise, Ronald Acuña Jr.'s 40-70 season was one of the biggest accomplishments.

I never thought that I would see a baseball player steal 70+ bases and hit 40+ homers in a single season, but Ronald Acuña Jr. isn't your average baseball player. He is an anomaly. In every sense of that word, he deviates from what is standard, normal, or expected. If it wasn't for his injuries, he very well could have broken the record before 2023, but I am just glad he broke it this season.

Here’s one we didn’t know we’d be counting down to before the season began. Ronald Acuña Jr. became the first player in MLB history with at least 40 homers and 70 stolen bases in a season. While the round-number feat is 40-70, Acuña was already in an exclusive club the moment he got to 29 homers and 59 stolen bases, which nobody else has ever done. But he didn’t stop there, finishing with 41 home runs and a Braves’ Modern Era-record 73 stolen bases. And by the way, Acuña’s 41 homers were the most out of the leadoff spot in a season. - MLB.com

Acuña was named the unanimous NL MVP after his fantastic season. Acuña finished the 2023 season with a .337 batting average, a .416 on-base percentage, and a 1.012 OPS. He had 41 homers, 106 RBI, and 73 stolen bases.
