WATCH: Ronald Acuña Jr. was tackled by a mix of security guards and fans rushing the field
It's not every day fans rush the field to hug a player, but today was that day as two fans attempted to hug Ronald Acuña Jr.
The security team then came out to take down the fans and escort them off the field and, in doing so, tackled Acuña Jr.
My favorite part of the entire encounter was a fan videoing the incident, yelling don't hurt our MVP which was hilarious.
Acuña Jr. is all good, but this was still a funny incident you just don't see every day.
Let's take a look at this incident and the security guard tacking Acuña Jr. as if he were a running back looking for open space.
Pitching Matchup for the Atlanta Braves and Colorado Rockies on Monday, August 28th
Starting for Atlanta is RHP Bryce Elder. 10-4 with a 3.39 ERA on the season, he's struck out 103 in his 25 starts. After some post-ASB struggles, Elder used matchups against the New York teams to right the ship: He's 2-0 with one run allowed in his last 12.1 innings, with three hits combined against the Yankees and Mets. He picked up a win at home against Colorado on June 17th, going six innings with one run on four hits, striking out four and walking none.
Opposing the Braves is LHP Austin Gomber. The 29 year-old is 9-9 with a 5.48 ERA in his 26 starts this season, striking out only 86 in his 136.1 innings. He avoided facing the Braves on their trip to Atlanta, but several members of the roster have had success against him: Travis d'Arnaud is 3-3 with two homers and six RBIs, while Ronald Acuña Jr is 1-5 with a solo homer.
