Former Atlanta Braves Outfielder Finds A New NL East Home

A former member of the Atlanta Braves will be staying in the division.

The Atlanta Braves let a handful of players walk in free agency this offseason.

It's been a slow free agency period across all of Major League Baseball, but there seems to be an uptick in signings now that Spring Training is picking up this offseason.

The Washington Nationals have signed former Atlanta Braves outfielder Eddie Rosario. According to a report from Andrew Golden of the Washington Post, the signing is a 'split' contract where Rosario can make a $4 million salary for his time in the majors.

"Can confirm @DanielAlvarezEE’s report that the Nationals have signed outfielder Eddie Rosario to a minor league deal," Golden posted on X Wednesday morning confirming the news.

After six seasons with the Minnesota Twins, half a season with Cleveland, and two and a half years in Atlanta, the nine-year MLB veteran with be with his fourth organization.

Rosario was seen by some as one of the weak spots in Atlanta's 2023 lineup and the writing was on the wall that he was going to walk once the offseason began. He had 516 at-bats for the Braves last year, hitting 21 home runs, 24 doubles, three triples, and had a batting average of .255 on the season.

The Atlanta Braves replaced Rosario in a trade with the Seattle Mariners that included several pieces, the most crucial being Jarred Kelenic who is expected to be an everyday starter for the Atlanta Braves this season in the outfield.

The Atlanta Braves take on the Washington Nationals 13 times in 2024, with the first matchup coming in Truist Park on Monday, May 27th.
