WATCH: Brian Snitker tossed in the top of the second inning

Replay overturned a missed call, but the judgment of the umpires to hold Matt Olson to a single did not sit well with Snit

You don’t see it often, but Brian Snitker got ejected in the top of the second inning. The inning began with a solo home run from Sam Hilliard. Ronald Acuña followed with another hit which brought Matt Olson to the plate.

Olson hit a fly ball off the left field wall that was called foul by the umpires. The Braves challenged the call on the field, and it was overturned. Replay clearly showed the ball hit the yellow line painted on the left field wall.

Matt Olson is not fast, but he would easily have been on second base had the ball been correctly called fair. The umpires placed Olson at first and Acuña at second base.

Brian Snitker came out of the dugout to discuss this with the umpires. He was not happy with the umpires holding Olson to a single and wanted an explanation. It appeared Snit was headed back to the dugout, but something he said led 3B umpire Manny Gonzalez to toss Snit out of the game.

Snitker was last ejected on August 17, 2022, for arguing a checked swing call against the Mets. Prior to that Snit was ejected on April 11, 2021.

After Snit was ejected, Sean Murphy doubled to score both Acuña and Olson.

The Braves are up 7-1 headed to the top of the fourth inning.
