WATCH: Travis d'Arnaud shows that catchers are athletes too, making an acrobatic slide at home to give Atlanta the lead in San Francisco
Look up "athlete" in the dictionary and what you should see is Travis d'Arnaud.
The Braves "backup" catcher, rotating in for tonight's series finale in San Francisco, already tied the game with a 2-RBI single to right field.
But he wasn't done.
Standing on 2nd after an Orlando Arcia single, d'Arnaud rounded third and raced for home on a Nicky Lopez groundball to left field, running through the stop sign from 3rd base coach Ron Washington.
Wash had the stop sign for d'Arnaud because the throw was going to beat d'Arnaud there, and it did, easily.
Travis does not care.
The athlete made an acrobatic slide, reaching out to swipe the bag with his left hand and avoiding the tag from catcher Patrick Bailey to give Atlanta the lead.
Atlanta's holding a slim 3-2 lead after Orlando Arcia was ruled out at the plate on review when he tried to score on a single, as well. Jared Shuster's back out for the 5th inning, trying to position the Braves for the win to secure the series sweep.
