BREAKING: Braves re-sign reliever Joe Jiménez to three year, $26M deal

The Braves have brought back the two most effective free agents out of their bullpen in Pierce Johnson and Joe Jiménez

The Atlanta Braves announced this morning that they have re-signed reliever Joe Jiménez to a three-year contract worth $26M.

Jiménez, 28, was acquired via trade from the Detroit Tigers for prospect slugger Justyn-Henry Malloy last November. In his first season in Atlanta, he pitched in 59 games, with an 0-3 record and 3.04 ERA across 56.1 innings. He allowed only 14 walks while striking out 73.

Jiménez earned himself $26M over the three years of the contract, with a 2024 salary of $8M and $9M in both 2025 and 2026. As is custom in Atlanta's long-term extensions and free agent salaries, Jiménez is donating 1% of his salary to the Atlanta Braves Foundation.

The combination of bringing back Jiménez and Pierce Johnson, signed last week for two years and $14.25M with a club option for a third year, will go a long way to replacing the nearly 250 innings Atlanta stood to lose out of the bullpen - the Braves were faced with six different relievers that had either club or mutual options or were entering unrestricted free agency.

With last night's conclusion of the postseason, the Braves now have five days to decide on the rest of that group, with Kirby Yates and Collin McHugh having pricey club options and Brad Hand having a mutual option.
