St. Louis Cardinals fans can let out a sigh of relief after a brief injury scare earlier this week.

Both Brendan Donovan and Willson Contreras were hit by pitches and each missed the club's home opener Thursday against the Miami Marlins. Although there was a slight scare, both will be back in the club's lineup on Saturday, according to The Athletic's Katie Woo.

"Donovan, Contreras back for Cardinals for round 2 against Miami," Woo said. " 1. Donovan (left field), 2. (Paul Goldschmidt) (first base), 3. Contreras DH, 4. (Nolan Arenado) (third base), 5. (Iván Herrera) (catcher), 6. (Nolan Gorman) (second base), 7. (Jordan Walker) (right field), 8. (Masyn Winn) (shortstop), 9. (Victor Scott II) (center field), and (starting pitcher Steven Matz)."

St. Louis already has been bitten by the injury bug this season and currently is without the services of Sonny Gray, Lars Nootbaar, Tommy Edman, and Dylan Carlson. If the club were to lose Donovan or Contreras for an extended period that would've been extremely difficult to maneuver around.

The Cardinals are 4-4 through their first eight games this season. St. Louis has been dealt a tough hand so far this season but has battled. Reinforcements should be on the way soon with Gray and Nootbaar both nearing a return to the field.

St. Louis should be able to compete for a postseason spot this season and Donovan and Contreras both will play a major role if it can do so.
