Cubs Prospect Has Incredible At-Bat For Smokies
Top Chicago Cubs prospect Pete Crow-Armstrong recently had one of the most exciting at-bats ever for the Double-A Tennessee Smokies.
On the 16th pitch of an at-bat, Crow-Armstrong ripped a grand slam. Amazingly, he started the at-bat with an 0-2 count against Birmingham Barons pitcher Luke Shilling.
Crow-Armstrong fouled off 11 pitches and took two balls.
He then launched the grand slam over the right field wall and the Smokies went on to win 9-1.
Crow-Armstrong is the No. 25 overall prospect ranked by MLB Pipeline.
He raised his average to .341 and drove in five runs in the game.
Crow-Armstrong proved in spring training that he’ll likely be playing in Wrigley Field very soon. He possesses a combination of power, speed and smooth fielding ability.
If Crow-Armstrong continues to develop at this pace, he’ll receive a call-up very soon.
Crow-Armstrong is slashing.341/.375/.614 and the 21-year-old has two homers, two triples and two doubles.
Statistics aside, he seems on track be moving up in the near future.
